This years event marked 6 years of success as the country’s top Blues Festival, and as it has always been, the aim is to make Durban the ‘Blues Festival city of Africa’. Recognition of this event has started to manifest itself across the country as well as within the global blues circuits and interest from leading blues artists has been somewhat astounding as the event picks up momentum and recognition.
Blues fans were treated to 6 nights of the finest Blues, highlighted by performances by our own Dan Patlansky, plus the Red hand Blues Band among many others. But audiences were completely blown away by the vibrant and dynamic Liz Mandeville from Chicago, USA, as well as Fiona Boyes from Melbourne , Australia , both of whom received standing ovations for their performances.
Both of the paid evenings (Saturday and Sunday) were totally sold out, and audiences received the bargain of the year, with a four hour programme of the best local and international Blues on Saturday, and 6 hours of the same on Sunday.
